We took Claire to her new classroom yesterday to meet her Junior Kindergarten teacher and make sure her new space was safe and something you could navigate.
Having your first kid start school is already so stressful, but knowing she is special needs is a while different level of stress and worry. The huge team and work we did to make sure she has the right resources and equipment is no small undertaking.
I have a whole new respect for parents who have to navigate the school system, advocating for your kids is a full-time job.
Seeing her face light up walking into the room, the instant ease she felt with her new teacher and knowing she has a full-time one on one resource with her for the half days she is attending puts my mind at ease a little bit.
Hopefully it gets easier for me, I’m an anxious mess right now!
